Hatha Yoga with Anne Beckenstein

Classes are available only to Sanctuary guests and are included in retreat fees.
My goals for my yoga classes are to do some deep stretching, increase flexibility, improve balance, gain focus, and build strength. I usually do a 10-15-minute warm up followed by poses and, of course, final relaxation in svasana (lying flat). My classes also offer a chair option. In this same vein, I offer two levels of difficulty for most poses. I teach a Hatha yoga class with a gentle pace at an advanced beginner to intermediate level.
I became a regular yoga practitioner in the fall of 2010 when I was 54 years old; I had just moved to Whitefish, Montana. I realized it made me feel so much better physically, mentally, and spiritually. I took many yoga classes from a variety of excellent instructors over the years. Eventually, I decided to seriously study yoga and earned my 200-hour certification through Yoga Alliance with Jodi Petlin of Shanti Yoga Studio.
I have been teaching yoga, which has included a yoga class for six children. I was happy that this class helped their coordination and helped them build strength and flexibility. I moved back to Virginia at the end of July 2021. Now, I’m back to a place I call home. I love teaching yoga, meeting new people, and growing as an Instructor.
