Nia Dance with Susan Tate
July 17, 2021 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm EDT
Nia is a guided movement class that allows us to be spontaneous and joyful in our playful expression, it frees us of our habituated movement patterns. You do not have to have any dance skill or even full range of motion, it can be done sitting down. By following simple moves to uplifting music, a NIA session will uplift your energy field and your spirit, it is a delightful healing experience.
About the Teacher:
Susan Tate, a licensed black belt Nia teacher, discovered Nia in 1997 while she was the Director of Health Promotion and assistant professor in the School of Medicine at the University of Virginia. She is the author of four health-related books, including Wellness Wisdom: 31 Ways to Nourish Your Mind, Body, & Spirit. Susan teaches internationally and has taught thousands of classes since she began teaching Nia in 1999. As a health educator for many decades, she often describes Nia as “health education and mindfulness poured into movement.” She teaches weekly Nia Moving to Heal classes for the University of Virginia Cancer Center, offers holistic coaching sessions, and is also a wedding officiant.
