Yoga Teacher

Brief info

I moved to Charlottesville, VA in 1980, and I earned my master’s degree in English Education from UVA. Professionally, after raising many children, I began teaching English at Fluvanna County High School. I also taught writing classes for Piedmont Valley Community College. Looking for a change, I taught one year in Cairo, Egypt, then moved to Montana, then El Salvador, then back to Montana while teaching English or Writing.

I became a regular yoga practitioner in the fall of 2010 when I was 54 years old; I had just moved to Whitefish, Montana. I realized it made me feel so much better physically, mentally, and spiritually. I took many yoga classes from a variety of excellent instructors over the years. Eventually, I decided to seriously study yoga and earned my 200-hour certification through Yoga Alliance with Jodi Petlin of Shanti Yoga Studio.

I have been teaching yoga, which has included a yoga class for six children. I was happy that this class helped their coordination and helped them build strength and flexibility. I moved back to Virginia at the end of July 2021. Now, I'm back to a place I call home. I love teaching yoga, meeting new people, and growing as an Instructor.
