selfless serviceGrounding in Holistic Lifestyle

The Serve-Study Program is an opportunity to live at the Sanctuary and enjoy the benefits of holistic wellness and a transformational meditative lifestyle for several weeks to several months while you contribute to a non-profit retreat center about wellbeing and empowering people’s best life.

We are very grateful to the friends, guests, and community that have volunteered and lent so much assistance over the years. From the depth of our hearts, thank you!

What Is the
Serve-Study Program?

Participants are housed on the Sanctuary grounds and meditate, participate in retreat activities, do service and dine with the community. You will find that the program is a powerful means to actualize subtler levels of holistic awareness that continue to unfold positive growth in your life long after you have returned home.

Service is for approximately 35 hours per week; free time is scheduled around the needs of the Sanctuary. These are not paid positions. In the Serve-Study Program, you are giving selflessly to an organization about service to humanity, amplifying your contribution to making a positive difference to our world.

Service may be helping with indoor or outdoor tasks depending upon your capacities, skills, background, and preferences. You’ll also be part of daily tasks as we act as stewards of this beautiful retreat center. Depending on your service schedule, you can also join retreat activities like yoga, Nia Dance and High-Tech Meditations. Also, depending on what expertise you can contribute, it is possible to continue working remotely on your job or business and do service. If this option is of interest to you, we can discuss creating a schedule that includes some time to focus on your work or career.

You spend the remaining time in study and a subjective, contemplative focus such as enjoying the grounds and nature walks, an academic or artistic project, reading, writing, spiritual/philosophical studies, to be considered and planned with Sanctuary staff.

Serve-Study Programs can range from one month to six or more months.

I have been coming to The Sanctuary in Virginia regularly since 2008. I come here as it is a magical place that gives me the opportunities to shift my illusory stories. It is truly transformative.

Miriam Broder

Miriam Broder

I have been coming to Synchronicity® Sanctuary for quite a few years and for the last 5 years I have stayed for two or three months at a time doing Serve Study.  I enjoy doing outside work with the landscape, orchard and gardens although I never know for sure what I might be doing. I also come to be in an high energetic environment that provides for increased awareness and furthers my journey.  I also enjoy spending fellowship time with the resident staff who I have come to know through the years.
